Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Sylvania SilverStar Ultra High Performance Halogen Headlight is fashioned for brighter and whiter light. It has dual filament for both high beam and low beam. This operates with internal gas pressure which significantly reduces the rate of tungsten evaporation. Its analogous non-halogen incandescent lamp operates the same filament temperature with greater luminance and efficiency. This combined effect of higher pressure and the halogen cycle give halogen lamp much longer life.

4 out of 5 stars Not bright, but brighter, and white   August 24, 2010
Rick Masters (Elkhart, IN)
First of all, American cars mostly using low wattage light bulbs (which is good cause most misadjusted lights don't bother you that much) and power supplied through the headlight switch.

Therefore, lights are not really "bright". Also, if you have old or worn headlight, the best bulbs won't make a difference.

I used these bulbs in a '99 Marquis, except for the lights to appear much whiter; we did not notice any difference in brightness. Lights and reflectors were in great shape.

At the same time we put them into a '99 Intrepid, and wow, what a difference!

First off all: The headlight color is white. This is even more dramatic at a clear night, when sitting next to a car without these bulbs.

Second: They are slightly brighter. Don't believe any of the ads telling you that you can suddenly see 100 feet further, this is impossible due to legality as you would blind oncoming traffic. But the beam is wider; you have a bigger "spot of light" in front of you.

Third: During rain, I found that these lights provide a sharper contrast between the falling rain (clear raindrops) and other objects. The beam of light on the road seems to be "crisper".

End of story: I think they are worth it.

5 out of 5 stars better than I thought they would be,,,   August 11, 2010

I polished the clear covers first, it helped about 50%. Then I tried the Farenheit blue high wattage bulbs; they were brighter but they had that blue tint that was hard for me to get used to. I've had the Sylvania's in for about a month now and there is a 100% improvement over the stock ones. I would buy them again.

4 out of 5 stars Decent   July 22, 2010

These headlights look nice, and increase visibility as they say. If you're looking for a superbright bulb, these aren't what they seem to be. They have a pure-white look, which looks nice. Overall 4/5

2 out of 5 stars Good product but not as far beam as expected.   June 27, 2010

When i saw these headlights on TV i decided to give them a try. The night that i got them i went for a night drive they were good but the problem is there only 30% brighter and were just awful in the rain. I have since switched to an HID kit and wow the kit is alot brighter whider and farther than the silverstaars imo. If you really want brighter whiter light then buy an HID kit it may be expensive but in the long run it lasts longer and is brighter and whiter. In other words get an HID kit.

3 out of 5 stars Not really such a bright idea   June 10, 2010

I got these bulbs so I could see better on dark roads with a whiter light. It says 50% brighter and etc. I didn't notice a whole lot of difference and paid a lot more to switch over. Here is the kicker that did not display in the ad online. On the back it says because they burn brighter they last only about a year as compared to regular bulbs that last 8 to 10 years.
