Product Description
Permatex Ceramic Extreme Brake Parts Lubricant is a 100% synthetic lubricant which contains real ceramic solids for extreme performance under the most critical braking conditions. A purple environmentally friendly non-melting formula this premium lubricant is our longest lasting most temperature resistant way to silence brake noise such as squealing and chattering; also effective in preventing long bolt and sleeve seizing and galling. Excellent on rolling and sliding surfaces operating in wet or dry conditions from -65F to 2800F (-54C to 1538C).

This product assures that critical brake parts remain lubricated throughout brake pad life. Resistant to corrosion and contaminants it will not wash out. It is compatible with internal/external brake rubber and plastic hardware including ethylene-propylene rubber.

Suggested Applications:
  • Disc brake caliper hardware
  • Bushings
  • Slides
  • Pistons
  • Rubber sleeves and seals

5 out of 5 stars permatex extreme brake lube   May 17, 2010
Mopar MuscleCar Maniac (Phila., PA USA)
Special high-temp, high performance brake lube. Arrived quickly & undamaged. Not inexpensive, but no problems at all with my latest disc brake job. It is one of those products that helps prevent problems-so if it works well, all you have to show for it (and the expense) are no problems!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent performance, easy to apply, great value.   October 19, 2009

The quality of this product is excellent. I have now used it on three complete brake jobs on three different cars ranging from a Honda Accord to a very fast 1995 Volvo T5R. I find application is easier to control (due to the brush) than those mini plastic bags that need to be cut in the corner amd squeezed to extract the lubricant. So, easier to apply and a great bargain on a "per ounce" basis. However, if you have only one car requiring one brake job every 2-3 years, an 8oz quantity is a lot more than you need. As always, be sure to avoid applying too much lubricant at each point - remember "a little dab'll do ya".

5 out of 5 stars Best for caliper pins in harsh environments   April 20, 2009

I've found it hard to find what kind of ceramic solids are in this product - I have to assume it's h-BN, or hexagonal Boron Nitride. I can certainly be wrong, but it's about the only lubricant that comes up when one Googles for ceramic lubricants (I doubt it's Tungsten Disulphide (WS2), another ceramic). The beneficial characteristic of h-BN is it maintains a low coefficient of friction as temperatures rise over 400 degrees Celsius, up to 1100C in an oxygen environment. You'll have to decide for yourself how much time your brake parts will be in extreme temperatures and whether this is a suitable product for you or if something with MoS2 is sufficient.

That said, the base synthetic grease is good to 500F, and the grease is extremely persistent. I tried rubbing some between my fingers then tried to wash it off. First, I used Permatex Fast Orange hand cleaner and it didn't come off. Next, I used hand soap. Then I tried concentrated dish soap. I had to use a pumice hand cleaner before it really felt like it was all gone. That persistence to me means this would make a great grease for caliper pins in harsh environments, where winter rains and road salt tend to wash out other lubricants.
