3M Lens Restorer Works Great July 2, 2010 swati patel 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This kit does renew old faded lenses to clear, shining as new.
Initially I thought dust has gone in and headlamps are fuzzy and should be cleaned from inside. Then I came across this product on this site and got one.
I was skeptical to try but after reading few reviews gave it a try. I am really surprised to to see the out come, just like new. It has changed my 98 and 2002 cars appearance all together.
I used cordless drill with 2 batteries with lower rpm but get electric drill with 1200-1500 rpm and you will get better result, faster.
You do not have to be a mechanic or handyman,I just followed the steps thoroughly and complete 2 cars in 3 hours with great result.
I am really happy that I used this route than solvent based cleaner.
If you car is more than 5 years old and have faded lens, this the way to bring back to life.
As I have not used any other product, could not compare but this is one of the cheapest and works..........well.
worked good May 26, 2010 Christopher J. Tourek 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
The kit worked quite well, just make sure you take your time and tape off well around the headlight so you don't scratch your paint (I would suggest at least 2 layers of tape).
It works! May 1, 2010 Alan L. Trask (Winston, Oregon) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Headlights were so hazed over that they were little more than yellow orbs and working about as well. I tried buffing the lens out before but with limited success. I stumbled across this 3M product and thinking 3M is a good company and the product in question is designed just for this headlight problem, why not give it a try.
Very glad I did! Fast and easy and returned the lens back to like new condition. Now the headlights shine and the road is visible again at night! $20 or so for this kit is a whole lot better than the $500 for new OEM system and it only took about 45 minutes start to finish.
Crystal clear April 6, 2010 A. Torrence 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
As advertised, this product will restore the headlight lenses on your car. Mine had accumulated a haze from over 200,000 miles of driving, and this kit made them look almost new.
The process took about 2 hours start to finish, including washing up my car afterwards. You could take less time if you have don't have to grind down your lenses as much as I had to. I would recommend a corded drill motor. I went through both batteries on my 18v cordless drill and then had to switch to my corded drill.
Works Great! April 6, 2010 Dave (Florida) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My GF's XC90 headlights looked like they had dried egg mixed with yellow paint on them. I had initially tried using some Mequires "headlight restorer" but, it was no match for these headlights.
The package includes everything you will need: tape, sandpaper, polisher, and polishing compound. I initially started off with a cordless DeWalt drill, I personally would not recommend using a cordless, as there is usually not enough RPM's in a cordless, and you will be swapping out batteries every 15 mins. I picked up a powered DeWalt that does 2500+ RPM's for $60 at Home Creepo, less than the cost of a new battery!
Follow the instructions and you will be golden, the more time you take, the better the result. I took about 2.5 hours, and I thought they came out great. At an angle you can still see some of the sand marks, but as the instructions say, the more patience and time you take, the better the results. Trust me, they look great now!
A simple hint, depending on the design of your vehicle, I lifted the hood so I would not have to tape off that section, I would also definitely double and maybe triple tape (if you can) the painted edges around the light for added protection, it's easy to pull off.
